Goalball 4 School Competition day

Event information

Registration for this event closes at Fri 13 Nov 2026 23:59.

The Goalball 4 School Competition provides a platform for students living with blindness or vision impairment as well for those students who simply want to try a different sport or who may struggle in large noisy team sports. Goalball is played in a quiet environment in a team of 3-6 players. With 3 players on court from each team at a time, the 3 players work together under blindfold to defend their 9m wide goal. Communication is key, along with the ability to make quick sharp movement to put their body in the path of the ball as players dive across the court to block the ball with their body, then either pass the ball to another player or return the ball. The ball must be thrown back at the opposing team and pass the centre line in 10 seconds of it touching a player or it is a penalty.

Goalball is a unique sport and may look easy to play but can be a very fast paced game of tactics and skill. Over 90% of people who have played the sport, from school-aged participants through to adults playing at Paratough events, say they enjoyed the sport and the challenge.
