More About Goalball

What is Goalball

“The toughest sport you’ve never heard of”

Goalball is a team sport designed for the blind and vision impaired, however sighted athletes can also play.

It was created to help rehabilitate veterans at the end of WWII.

Goalball has been in the Paralympics since 1976.

How is it played?

2 teams of 3 face off on a volleyball-like court.

They are completely blind-folded ensuring no one can see anything.

Players take turns hurling a heavy ball fill with bells in it at the other team’s goal.

Defenders must listen for the sound of the bells and dive in front of the ball to prevent the other team from scoring.
