NSW Goalball Position Description

NSW Goalball State Team Coach

 The role:

 Nominations close Midnight on April 7, 2018

 As head coach your entry fee, airfare and accommodation will be paid for at the 2018 Australian Goalball Championships in Perth, WA  from Oct 4-7.

 The NSW State Team Coach is responsible for all coaching and on court aspects of the NSW Goalball team prior to and during the Australian Goalball Championships in conjunction with the NSW Goalball executive committee. The period is expected to be from appointment which will be from April 14th through October 8th, 2018.

 Please nominate your interest for state team coach in the following categories. Youth & Junior coaches will also be required to attend the NSW Goalball for Schools Knockout Cup on Thursday, June 29th at Netball Central.

 Senior Women

Youth Mixed (19-15yrs)

Juniors Mixed (14 & under)

 Duties:

 To liaise with the NSW Goalball Executive Committee during the period of appointment as follows:

 Create a program with training sessions/camps for the 2018 appointment period.

  • Notify all possible member players of the above season plan and gather buy in by either telephone or face to face after sending out an initial email asking for expressions of interest by May 19, 2018.
  • Assist where possible in the NSW State Championships (April) & on dates that showcase NSW Goalball to key stakeholders and future players where future recruitment of squad members is possible.
  • Look to nominate an assistant coach that may be present when you are unable to train with your nominated squad. (possible students from ACPE, WSU, or UNSW partnerships)
  • Be part of the selection panel after NSW State Championships (April 14-15th  alongside the Chairman & Executive Director)
  • Liaise with the equivalent Australia divisional coach providing updates as requested.
  • Track the progress of things including fitness, playing skills and team work during training sessions and camps held leading into the Australian Goalball Championships.
  • Leading into the Australian Goalball Championships attend NSW Goalball executive meetings where an update on your nominated squad will be delivered to the board and Team Manager.
  • Motivate, guide and conduct coaching to the squad in a professional and appropriate manner at all times through your initial plans
  • Approach the Team Manager and or the NSW Goalball Executive Committee if you consider to be challenged or disrespected by players who will have signed a player agreement in June upon selection. 
  • Take full ownership of all pre game and post-game activities at the Australian Goalball Championships (October 4-7th)
  • Write a full post Australian Goalball Championships report which should be presented to the board by no later than October 17th outlining the following of each player. Attitude including things like Team Work and Sportsmanship, Performance, Things to improve upon, any issues arising from the point of initial selection in (June) to end of playing in (October) and an overall grade of the player.
