Hi!
I'm Josh. I have been a supporter of goalball for over 10 years and now I am both a parent AND a player!
I first found out about goalball 10 years ago when my brother-in-law, Tyson started playing and found that I really loved watching the games. It made me so interested in the sport and learning about the skills needed to play, especially being around athletes with blindness.
About 3 years ago, my son and I attented a training session with my brother-in-law and some of the other players who I had become friends with convinced both of us to get on court and give it a try. Well, 3 years on, neither of us have been off the court since!
We were hooked both because of the fun part of playing the sport, but also being more involved in the community has helped us both as people to grow and learn.
Being a player now as well as a parent involved in goalball allows me to have a better understanding of how the game works when I'm supporting Noah to achieve (and score!) his goals from the sidelines. The goalball community is a beautiful community is like one big happy and supportive family. Although my son and I are not vision impaired in a community full of people with blindness and low vision, we've been super welcomed and supported by everyone. On court we are competitive, but off court the friendships are strong. I hope to be able to continue being a parent and player for many years to come, as Noah and I really love our big goalball family!
