NSW Goalball host inaugural BLV Services Cup!

NSW Goalball was thrilled to host the first ever BLV Services Cup in Sydney, with over 20 staff from Guide Dogs NSW, Vision Australia and NextSense taking part in a fun and friendly goalball competition.
The event was an initiative of the NSWGB Board, to host a corporate team building event with our vision support partners, to raise further awareness of the sport of goalball, to build even better relationships and to say a huge thank you to the people and providers who have and continue to support so many of our members and their families.
After a group warm up session and demonstration game from our current players, all the staff competed in a double round robin competition of 6 modified games. All the players were pushed out of their comfort zone and everyone gave it their all, with many laughs and smiling faces along the way.
Guide Dogs won all their preliminary games and went straight through to the gold medal match. The final round game between NextSense and Vision Australia would decide who was to meet them in the final, and it was NextSense who advanced on a better for and against result.
The gold medal match was an absolute nail biter, with both teams trading goals and the final score in regulation time was 5-5, so the game went to golden goal overtime…….and it was NextSense who took the honours in the first ever BLV Servies Cup.

A huge thank you to our board members for organising the event, and all our members who volunteered their time to help on the day, to make it a huge success – Alan, Andrew P, Jess, Angela, Matt, Josh, Noah, Monique, Clayton, Isaac and Luca.
NSW Goalball would like to thank all the staff from NextSense, Guide Dogs and Vision Australia for taking time out of their work, to try something new, to step out of their comfort zone and be a part of the NSW Goalball community.
