Event information

The NSW Goalball board is made up of 7 members, 5 elected and upto 2 appointed, each members term is 2 years with a maxium of 5 terms (10 years) board member election is split between the 2 year cycle, odd number years 2 board members are elected, even number years 3 board members are elected.

2 board positions will become vacant at this years AGM and nominations are called for to fill these 2 vacancies.

Andrew Perry who has been running NSW goalball program for his past few terms tenour is upf for renewal, he has indicated he will not be standing again to allow him to focusing on coaching

Amy Corbett's 2 year term is also up and has indicated she will be standing again.

If there are more nomations than available positions a vote will be held, otherwise nomiees will be appointed to the board.

What to expect when on the board

With changes coming through from NSW Sport and Australian sports commission around governance you will need to:

  • have a current working with children check
  • complete a board induction
  • complete child guardianship training (2hrs online)
  • complete governance training (course to be confirmed as yet but should only take a few hours)

 

Committment

It take a lot to keep NSW Goalball running which requires board members to be engaged and continuelly working towards our goals

  • attend monthly meetings, these are held online at a time agreed too as convient for all, at present the first monday of each month at 7:30pm and run for 1.5 to 2 hours
  • work on your portfolio and provide updates at each board meeting
  • engage with the membership to keep your finger on the pulse of goalball
  • keep your conflicts of interest register entries upto date and declare any conflicts if they arise during a meeting
  • workload 10-20hrs per month

    • Bring It On Sports relationship management
    • grant oversight and aquitial

    • ensure they are kept working for 15hr per school term week
    • assist them with any issues with engagement with ISTV
    • assist with developing plans and engagement to widen the awareness of goalball
  • Social Media
    • Oversee our facebook, instagram pages ensuring they are updated with appropriate information
    • grow our following and impact
  • Youtube channel
    • oversee content for the youtube channel, ensuring that games are recorded and are able to be posted
  • Finance
    • working with the book keeper to ensure that all transactions are accounted for and recorded correctly
    • budgeting for each goalball event/activity
    • advise the board on if a project is financially viable along with any financial risks involved
  • Organisation support grant management
    • Keep track of smarty grants portal for all required submission for OSP grant (NSW Sports grant of SSOD's)
