Australian Youth Girls Success

Congratulations to our Aussie Glow - the Australian Youth Girls Team on taking home the Silver Medal from the 2019 IBSA Goalball Youth World Championships in Penrith. The tournament came to a close with a challenging Gold Medal match between the Brazil and Australia Girls teams. Team Brazil carried a strong performance throughout the entire duration of the championships but the Aussie Youth Girls put up a great fight in the final match. NSW Goalball is proud of the Australian players and all of their accomplishments throughout the week.

2019 IBSA Youth World Championships - Event Details 

Hello Goalball friends around the world, this is the first expression of interest for your Youth Boys and Youth Girls teams to compete at the IBSA 2019 Goalball Youth World Championships in Sydney, Australia at Penrith Regional Valley Sports Centre. 

You will stay at Panthers Mercure Hotel. Breakfast and Dinners will be served at Panthers Buffet and all ground transport will be provided both from the airport upon arrival to the hotel and from the hotel back to the airport. Also included will be welcome bags which will give you discounts on local attractions, food and transport if you wish to sight see while in Sydney.

Entry fee is set at $1,500 AUD per person. (Approximately 930 EU or 1,060 USD, this is subject to change based off international exchange rates at the time of payment). 

Entry fee per person includes twin share accommodation, all meals and all transport throughout the duration of the event. We have tried to keep entry fees low to encourage high participation by countries.

*We will accept the first 8 entries in each Youth Girls and Youth Boys categories . So please fill in the 1st Expression of Interest via the link at the top of the page allowing us to plan the best youth tournament celebrating the future athletes of tomorrow in our great sport.

A $2,000 (AUD) non-refundable deposit is to be paid prior to May 2nd with the remainder of the team's $1,500 per person (AUD) fee due no later than July 5th, 2019.

 

                                                                   

 

Itinerary:

Friday, August 2nd: Arrive at Sydney Int Airport (SYD), go to Mercure Penrith Hotel - approximately 90 min drive

Saturday & Sunday, August 3rd and 4th: Classifications and Team Training Sessions

Monday, August 5th 10am: Opening Ceremony followed by First Pool Games

Tuesday & Wednesday, August 6th & 7th: Pool Games continued

Thursday, August 8th: Pool Games (morning session) followed by Semi Final Games

Friday, August 9th: Bronze and Gold medal games followed by Closing Ceremony

Saturday, August 10th: Team depart from hotel to Sydney International Airport (SYD) for departing flights home

Note: Extra nightly hotel and meal costs will apply at your own team's expense if you wish to arrive early or leave later than the above dates.

Playing Venue: Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre, 2 show courts plus 2 warm up courts - all in separated arenas within one venue

We will be using full size KSG Goalballs for this tournament and all games will be played on sprung wooden floors. We will be using Goalfix Eclipse eyeshades which will be distributed to all players who will be patched for the entirety of all games at this Tournament.
